Taylor Alison Swift Was born December 13, 1989 is an American country-pop singer-
songwriter. In 2006, she released her debut single "Tim McGraw", "I wrote the song in my
freshman year of high school. I was dating a guy who was about to go off to college. I knew we
were going to break up so I started thinking of all the things that I knew would remind him of
me. Surprisingly, the first thing that came to mind was that my favorite country artist is Tim
McGraw.in late 2008, Taylor Swift catapulted the young songwriter to stardom, spawning a
handful of hits (five consecutive Top Ten singles, a new record for a female solo artist) while
earning multi-platinum sales. Swift also received a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, an
award she ultimately lost to Amy Winehouse. Two subsequent EPs -- Sounds of the Season:
The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection and Beautiful Eyes -- helped maintain Swift's popularity
while whetting public demand for her sophomore release, Fearless, which arrived in
November 2008. ~ once dated singer Joe Jonas. She wrote the song "Forever & Always"
about him, and the song appeared on her album, Fearless. At age 11, Taylor convinced her
mother to take her to Nashville's Music Row.
"I would get out of the car and walk into the record labels and hand the receptionist my demo
CD and say, 'Hi, I'm Taylor.'"
She says she wasn’t taken seriously. "I had to figure out a way to make myself different.
That's about the time I wrote my first song."
"I think I fell in love with words before I fell in love with music. All I wanted to do was talk," she
says.
Taylor talked her parents into moving the whole family from their Christmas tree farm in
Pennsylvania to Nashville, Tenn. Within a year, she had a songwriting contract. Her first
album, "Taylor Swift," peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums Chart and spent
eight consecutive weeks at the top of the Top Country Albums chart. Two years later, her
album "Fearless," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. Its single, "Love Story,"
is a country and pop hit.
"It feels amazing, I can’t believe it, like a childhood dream come true right now," she says of a
banner celebrating her latest No. 1 hit.
Taylor's rise has been swift, but unlike other young celebrities, a fall doesn’t seem likely. "I'm
not ever gonna be that person that's, like, really into partying. It just isn't really in my makeup.
I’m not drawn to that." Her very public breakup with Jonas Brother Joe Jonas has taught her
it's OK to keep some things to herself.
"It's been kind of weird having people actually care and actually delve more into it," she says.
We did a little digging too. It seems there is a dark side to Taylor Swift. "My dream is to die on
'CSI.' I've always wanted to, like, be one of the characters on there that they're tryin' to figure
out what happened to." Her dream is coming true. Without giving too much away, she’ll
appear on an upcoming episode of the CBS drama, but her character isn't quite living the
dream.

"It's fine to talk about love publicly. But I think when you talk
about virginity and sex publicly, people just automatically picture
you naked," Swift tells Allure.
"And as much as I can prevent people picturing me naked, I'm
going to."

Sitting in the backstage living room.
Hey!
I'm laying on a comfortable, beautiful couch in the backstage club house/living room/"T party" room. It's a room I've always wanted to have on other tours. It looks nothing like backstage. It looks like your living room. The walls are covered in magenta/maroon/gold/purple draped fabric, and the floors are carpeted with oriental rugs on top. There are lanterns hanging from the ceiling and candles everywhere. In the middle of everything is a column with pictures of my band and me all over it. Pictures that remind me of home. Pictures with Kellie, Abigail, Selena, my dad, my brother, the trip my band and crew and I took to Hawaii this summer.. My dancers, my crew.. Everyone's in a picture. That's just my favorite part of the room. The boys like the ping pong table, foosball table, and the big screen TV entertainment center. So I'm in heaven right now, sitting on the couch, waiting for everyone to get here to rehearse.
Hey, I wanted to thank you for getting me nominated for so many CMT awards this year!! You gave me the coolest night EVER last year when you won Video of the Year and Female Video for me... I'll never forget that. Hey... if you want to vote for me again this year.......... That would be awesome. I would like that :) A lot. (CMT.com)
I'm gonna get back to rehearsals. My opening band Gloriana was here yesterday, and we were working up some cool stuff. Kellie gets in tonight!! So excited.
love you guys!

Taylor Swift, who The New York Times described as "one of pop's finest songwriters, country’s foremost pragmatist, and more in touch with her inner life than most adults," has surpassed the 10 MILLION milestone for record sales. This 10 million number represents actual full albums sold – in addition, Taylor has sold over 20 million paid song downloads, more than any artist in country music history.
19-year old Taylor, who writes all of her own material, released her now quadruple-platinum self-titled debut CD in October of 2006 on Big Machine Records, and followed it up with the Fearless album two years later. Fearless was the country’s top selling album for the first 33 weeks of this year, and now has sales of more than 4 million copies in the US and Gold and Platinum certifications in fourteen countries spanning five continents.
Taylor’s 10 million albums sold include the following:
Taylor Swift 4,369,749 units US
Fearless 4,020,725 units US
Taylor Swift & Fearless 1,297,059 units International
Beautiful Eyes 256,822 units (Wal-Mart only)
The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection 151,844 units
Taylor has had singles top both the Country and Pop radio charts, and sold more albums last year than any other recording artist, in any genre of music. Her #1 single “Love Story” has become a global sensation, topping airplay charts worldwide, in countries including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Taylor just celebrated her 4th consecutive #1 single in the US, and her fifth #1 out of her last six singles released.
Her sophomore release, Fearless, was voted 2009’s Album of the Year by the Academy of Country Music, and reached double-platinum in just four weeks. Fearless was the year's biggest debut for any female artist, and the fourth highest debut of 2008, over all. Now quadruple-platinum, Fearless has spent more weeks in the #1 position atop Billboard’s Top 200 all-genre CD sales chart than any other album this decade. Taylor currently holds the Billboard all-genre record for most Top 20 debuts in a calendar year. Taylor’s first-ever headlining tour, the TAYLOR SWIFT FEARLESS 2009 TOUR, is the hottest ticket on the market, with capacity crowds packing arenas around the globe. This summer Taylor sold out a show at Madison Square Garden in one minute, and one at Los Angeles’ STAPLES center in just two minutes.
At 17, Taylor became the youngest person to single-handedly write and sing a number-one country single entirely on her own, and she is the first female solo artist in country music history to write or co-write every song on a platinum-selling debut CD. At 14, she signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music, and in 2006 released her self-titled debut CD on Big Machine Records. Taylor Swift has surpassed quadruple-platinum (4 million sales) status and spent more than 20 weeks in the #1 position atop Billboard's Country CD Sales Chart. Taylor is consistently ranked Country's #1 artist on MySpace, and was named Country Music's Hottest Female Artist by AOL Music and Best New Artist by the editors of iTunes. Taylor now has more than a million followers on her Twitter account, and recently surpassed the 250 million mark for music streams on her MySpace page.
In 2009 Taylor was awarded the Academy of Country Music’s Crystal Milestone Award, given for Outstanding Achievement in Country Music. Taylor was the 2nd artist in history to receive this prestigious award -- Garth Brooks received the award in 2007. Also this year, Taylor won CMT Music Awards for Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year, awards she was also honored with in 2008. In addition, she won 2009 Teen Choice Awards for Choice Female Artist and Choice Music Album – Female Artist. Taylor was named 2008’s Favorite Female Country Artist at the American Music Awards, and Top New Female Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music. She was named Choice Breakout Artist at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, and was as the 2008 Superstar of Tomorrow at the 10th Annual Young Hollywood Awards, making her the first musician to ever receive this prestigious award. In 2007 she won the CMA Horizon Award, as well as the Nashville Songwriters Association International's Songwriter / Artist of the Year, and she received a GRAMMY nomination for Best New Artist.
Earlier this year, NBC dedicated an entire hour to the primetime special “Dateline: On Tour With Taylor Swift.” Taylor’s numerous other television appearances include a guest-starring role on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and a performance on Saturday Night Live.
Taylor has been featured on the covers of Rolling Stone (twice), Billboard (twice), Glamour, Allure, People StyleWatch, Blender, USA Weekend, Seventeen (twice), Redbook, Self, Us Weekly, CosmoGirl, Girl’s Life, Teen Vogue, Women’s Health, First, Your Prom, and Southwest Airlines Spirit magazine. She was featured in a Vanity Fair spotlight, was named one of People magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People of 2008 and 2009, was Cosmopolitan magazine’s Fun Fearless Female of December, 2008, was Allure’s Face of December, was named a Style Star of 2008 by the editors of Seventeen, and was featured on Maxim’s 2008 & 2009 Hot 100 list.
